An Exam Statement:
Alan Birchall, Headteacher, Byrchall High School
After months of waiting, our students have finally received their examination results; the first
time exams had been sat since the coronavirus outbreak.
On behalf of all the staff and governors, I want to congratulate each and every one of them for
their achievements over the last five years at Byrchall High School. They have been a superb year group and we will all miss them. Our students’ GCSE results this year show how tenacious and committed the class of 2022 is.

They have had to work especially hard to overcome social and educational barriers due to a global pandemic and these results prove that bright futures lie ahead for each of them. They are inspirations and role models to all future students. These achievements mean our students can confidently take their next steps into securing a brighter future. I wish each and every one of them the best and I look forward to hearing about their accomplishments in the years to come.
English and Maths continue to perform at the highest levels. Additionally, there are notable improvements in a number of other subjects.
Our students’ achievements in vocational qualifications are high, especially in Performing Arts, Health and Social Care and Sport Science.
I am especially proud of our SEND and Disadvantaged students. Their progress is admirable and we have a significant number of individual success stories.
Special thanks go to our staff at Byrchall who went above and beyond to ensure all students were examination-ready and I know they will share in my delight at students’ outcomes. This has also been a particularly trying time for parents and I am sure they will be relieved and proud, in equal measures, at their children’s achievements.
